Rising Damp Guarantees
A long guarantee sounds reassuring, but its real value depends on who stands behind it and what the small print actually covers.

Who issued the guarantee?
A contractor-backed promise is only as useful as the business that remains available to honour it. Insurance-backed cover is a different arrangement and should be read on its own terms.
What work is covered?
The DPC, plaster, decorations and timber may not all be included. Ask where the guarantee starts and stops.
Can it be transferred?
This matters if the property may be sold. Some documents transfer automatically, while others require notification or a fee.
A guarantee does not prove the cause
A wall can be guaranteed after treatment and still suffer from an unrelated leak or bridging problem. Diagnosis remains separate from paperwork.
Want somebody local to look at it?
